Mãreva

Mãreva is a fantasy language for a fantasy people who live in a swamp. I'm from Florida and I don't see many good fantasy swamp stories.

Lipu'Onai

This language is retired. I am not actively developing the language. I believe some of the information on it is still available via the wayback machine, so I may archive some of it here also.

Lenanjar

This language is currently retired. If I ever find my notes again, I may post them just for memories, but I haven't used Lenanjar since high school 20 years ago.

My Story

I made my first conlang, Lenanjar, in high school. I remember that my best friend and I had a free period together one day in Music Theory and both pulled out notebooks with in-progress conlangs, before we even knew conlanging was a thing! I think that is one of the most random events in my life since we had never discussed language creation and were just taking Spanish classes and we were generally weird people, curious about how languages worked.

I didn't like Lenanjar because it was too similar to Spanish, which was my only foreign language experience, so a few years later, I created Lipu'onai. Theoretically, Lipu'onai was supposed to be influenced by Hawaiian, but I didn't speak Hawaiian, so I mostly iused their alphabet. It was still a simple language, but it was fun to have a simple fantasy language.

After that, I felt like I didn't know enough. I wasn't a linguist or anything. So I focused on studying some natural languages, although they were still european languages. I studied French (I struggled with French) and German and fell in love weith the German language. I took a long break from conlanging, but I still lurked around conlanging sites now and then.

Years later, I married a Brazilian and studied some Portuguese, but I still felt a curiosity about constructed languages. I have not taken a linguistics class and I still feel like there's so much I don't know, but it's an interesting topic.
